In order to get Portal 2 working with your logitech rumblepad 2 you have to do the following...
Download the files from :
http://rapidshare.com/files/343322681/xbox360cemu.v.3.0.rar
or
http://xinput.googlecode.com/files/xbox360cemu.v.3.0.rar
Extract the files :
xbox360cemu.ini
xinput1_3.dll
Copy the following file to the following folder :
xbox360cemu.ini
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\
Rename the file in folder :
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\bin\
xinput1_3.dll to xinput1_3.dll.old
And copy the file from the download to the directory :
xinput1_3.dll
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\bin\
So you end up with the following adjustments :
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\xbox360cemu.ini (10kb)
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\bin\xinput1_3.dll.old (68kb)
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\bin\xinput1_3.dll (76kb)
You now start the game from :
\Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\portal2.exe
Now off you go to enjoy this game using your logitech rumblepad 2 or dual action game pad.

Man, you´re fast ! thanks for sharing the settings
ReplyDeleteThanks, been playing this for the past hour now, and it works great. Allot of people complain about the game crashes, but I've got no problems whatsoever, it's a great game... I'm on Win 7 64bit, using AMD/ATi.
ReplyDeleteThanks mate
ReplyDeleteThanks, working...but the vibration...not working...some idea?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteAwesome files, however I have one glitch, I can't strafe left and right with the left analog stick. Is this a glitch or what can I change to try and make that work?
ReplyDeleteI had that problem when I did not put these files into the correct folders, please double check on this. Also to check is that you "jump" pressing the button 1. If it's not working you probably did something wrong. Try again.
ReplyDeleteIt also works great with update 1. And the update solves allot of crash issues.
ReplyDeleteIf you get stuck, have a look at :

Works great, I just completed the game. I'll hope there will be some DLC for this game, cause testing is just so fun... And I'm not much of a multi-player fan...
ReplyDeletelove ya
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much
ReplyDeleteLove the game.
I installed this patch, but now my computer doesn't recognize my controller at all. Do I need to restart?
ReplyDeleteWhat controller do you have? it works fine for me. If you follow the above, and have a rumbplepad 2 or dual action gamepad it should work fine.
ReplyDeletei have done the same as u said and after that the game can not find the controller
ReplyDeletehelp i can not look up and down with my gamepad's right analog stick.
ReplyDeleteDid you run the test program, to check if the pad works ok with it?
ReplyDeleteXInputTest.exe
Where to paste XInputTest.exe.It says no pad connected while pad works in game.
ReplyDeleteyou need it in the same directory as all the other files.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a directory named: \Program Files\Valve\Portal 2\
ReplyDeleteI have C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\
where do I put these files to get my Dual Action controller to work?
Found the right folder!
ReplyDeleteC:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\portal 2
Yeah, sometime when you use Steam that would be where you find the stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks, this worked perfectly for my Logitech Wireless Gamepad.
ReplyDeleteHas anybody tried this setup in co-op mode? Specifically, I'm trying to troubleshoot the gestures and the trouble I'm having is that after I perform a gesture, both of the control sticks stop working.
ReplyDeleteI should mention that I'm not using the setup described here right now--just curious if it might help to solve my problem, though I'm hesitant about downloading and replacing dll files and such. Currently, I'm running the command-console-enabled 2p splitscreen where I've tried to assign joystick buttons manually in the joy.cfg file in the portal2/cfg folder--this works great until I try to gesture.
You should give it a try, don't worry about replacing dll's you can always reverse the process if you want to. I use these all the time, and they are well known, so no need to worry. Actually without these I would hardly play with my PC at all, :) They bring back the life into games with the logitech sticks.
ReplyDeleteI have the logitech dual action controller, and I followed the steps listed above. My controller works great now for Portal 2, but the game crashes sometimes when I pick up blocks or put them down. Does anyone know why this happens or how I could fix this? I'm pretty sure I put the correct files in their respective folders, and I've changed the controller configurations while playing, so I'm certain it isn't the controller itself.
ReplyDeleteThe game itself "crashes" allot this has nothing to do with you using these files and the controller. I also have these issues, with or without a controller... Try getting the latest update, that might solve some issues that comes with the game out of the box.
ReplyDeleteRapidshare file does not exist
ReplyDeleteboth of these links are down now.
ReplyDeleteThe link :
ReplyDeletehttp://xinput.googlecode.com/files/xbox360cemu.v.3.0.rar
works fine, I just downloaded the file.
Awesome, worked like a charm! Thank you for the work you have done!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get this to work in the first Portal through Steam. When I launch the game, it overwrites the xinput1_3.dll with the original. The right analog stick doesn't work, so looking around in the game only works with the mouse. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteDid it work for you before? I'm not using xinput1_3.dll for the original Portal, but I managed to get the controller working after downloading the Logitech driver. (I also had to run a utility to clear out my configuration for the controller, but I think that was because I messed with it before installing the driver. If you need the utility, it's here.)
DeleteI'm trying to get split screen to work. I've got the 1st player control working great but when it comes to 2nd player, only the first stick and left and right movements from the 2nd stick work. Any help?
ReplyDeleteI tried it with no results, every time i push left on the analog it triggers the blue portal
ReplyDelete*\Program Files\Valve
ReplyDeletedoes not exist... for me it's *\Program Files\ and a folder named Steam is the only one there. where should i paste the file now?
Try to find the Portal 2 folder, and there should be a bin folder in there...
ReplyDeletemaybe something like :
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\portal 2\
follow the instructions as above for where to place the files...
this needs a batch script really really badly
ReplyDeletei downloaded the xbox360cemu.v.3.0 but i can't find the other file.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the Portal 2 folder? I'm in the Steam folder in \Program Files, but I can't find any game folders. I'm new to Steam and only have Portal 2, but isn't there still a folder with the files of my games in it?
ReplyDeleteI put all the files in correctly and double checked it, but the controller only works with the menu. I cannot walk around or do anything else with it. Help?
